Just passing through...

Traveling can be exhausting. Even though I am not driving, the rocking of the car wears on every sore fiber of my being. Don't get me wrong...I love traveling with my family and the cutest boy is certainly the best traveler we have...

This trip is representative of so many things...new beginnings, endings, big adventures. This trip represents a change for my family with our daughter's move, hope for our son's disease with the conference revealing new potential treatments and the opportunity to take the cutest boy to Yellowstone...

If I could (and had unlimited money), I would spend my summers driving the freeways, exploring our land, exposing us to hidden gems.

Life is a bit like this...moving forward, not really knowing what is ahead. Hidden gems and unusual finds along the roads of life encourage us to move forward and explore. May we never lose our curiosity.

Perspective....

Throughout our lives, we have lessons to learn. Some of these lessons are painful...others fleetingly come through our lives, swiftly going by. One of the most important part about lessons is being willing to learn them... If we are unwilling to learn then we will be unable to move forward. Whether or not we are willing to learn is determined by our perspective. Our mental view determines the next step. Perspective...how we view the world and others around us. How we interpret information and process it.  The cartoon on the right really illustrates where I am right now in my personal life. I recognize that perspective is a driving force and I must work to maintain my perspective. Recognizing that others may not see things the same as I do is expected, but the variance in perspective is what I am struggling with.  I am not sure what lessons I am to be learning right now...the parts of my life that have kept me grounded have left me floating aimlessly. Who knew? Lessons from the last year..

 Welcome back to The Other Side of the Equation. This is where deep thinking and conversation happen about the transformation of education, taking care of our well-being, and creating a world where everything matters. I have been missing from the blog world for months. The Pandemic came in March of 2020 and I, like many others, moved into survival mode. We all hunkered in for what we thought would be a few weeks. Our naivete about the situation now seems so clear. Looking back it's hard to believe I, a scientist at heart, ever really believed that we would return "back to normal" in just a few weeks. (facepalm) The Pandemic destroyed the creative juice that flowed from my mind. Consumed with worry and concern, isolating from others, made getting by each day the priority.
